Making It Matter

Time to get smart about living your life and making it matter to you.

So, you’re an intelligent, capable woman, with a career, a family and, maybe, a partner. Life is full and busy, and you’re holding your head up. Sort of.

You’re tired all the time, and you don’t drink enough water, eat the right foods or get enough sleep. A part of you believes that your life isn’t what you want it to be despite having at least some of the things that you want. So what’s wrong with you?

Nothing.

Nothing that putting yourself first won’t fix. And that’s the hard part because it bucks everything we’ve already been taught.

When you grow up, you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world, try not to bash into the walls too much, try to have a nice family life, have fun, save a little money… but that’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact – and that is everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you.

So What?

If life is all made up, why not be the author of the story of you? Lead yourself in your own life. Live your truth. Make up your mind.

Personal leadership isn’t about asking the hard questions. It’s about listening for the secret answer – and acting on it without analysing it.

Gulp! There are just so many things that feel ‘wrong’ about that approach!

Here’s the rub: when you secretly want others to see you for who you are, you have to know and see the ‘secret’ you. That’s one of the paradoxes of leadership.

The good news is that you don’t have to throw your old life away to start moving towards the one you want. There’s no need to start over.

Just move forward, changing one thing at a time.
