I’ve been playing with this definition of Mindfulness for a few weeks now; trying it on for size to see where I am practicing mindfulness, and where I am not. While I am not great at formal meditation, the act of thinking about this definition has slowed me down and created space for me.
Perhaps this is just in conjunction with the Lenten journey that I’ve been on, perhaps not. Either way, I’m happy with this definition and plan on sticking with it.
At least until it changes for me.
Love the idea of allowing something like this to be of service to you … until it no longer serves!
How often do we come across a new approach to something and adopt it (sometimes mindlessly!), then get into the habit of hanging on to it long after it’s not serving us. Something about feeling a kind of loyalty that comes from the sense of commitment to this new approach.
Something about that element of Domestication (Don Miguel Ruiz) that has us stay with what we’ve been told is “right” even after we start to create resentment.
Mindfulness →Curiosity→Freedom. I like it!
Thank you.
